As we see the ending on the horizon, I don't even know where to begin with this post. Thank you....to my remarkable students who make every single day an adventure I will never forget. To my incredibly supportive parents who seemingly effortlessly support the life-long learning of their kids and attend/contribute to the authentic learning through field trips and supervision. This truly wouldn't have been such an amazing year without you! And thank you also parents for trusting me to walk beside your child/ren, guiding them to be confident, innovative and inspiring individuals. That is a HUGE role to fill and I hope that you can look back on this time and know that your child/ren were loved and supported by their teacher the whole way through! So, here's to a fabulous year, a future full of endless opportunities and memories that make this thing called life all worth while! Happy June and MUCH LOVE ALWAYS!!!
Holy Camoli, I can't believe it is May already!!! Our class was just talking about how fast this year has gone by! I'm not ready to start saying good-bye to my amazing grade fives....although, there really is no time in which I will EVER be ready...
We have a very busy month ahead of us! Lots of special in-class activities and school-wide activities as well. I'm so incredibly proud of the leadership capacity of our classroom and the way we have learned to growth together! Let's make the next few weeks REALLY count for academics and preparation for next year! There is still curriculum to cover so lets plow through so that we can enjoy a few weeks in June of collaboration and team building!
Welcome to April! 3 months to go until summer vacation. That is unbelievable! I am happy to report that our grade 4 overnight field trip to the Royal Tyrrell Museum was a FANTASTIC success!!!
We recently welcomed 3 Chinese exchange students to our class. Their names are Jane, Joyce and Johnny. We are thrilled to learn and grow with them. There are loads of events coming up so be sure to check things out under our EVENTS tab.
I can't believe that we are already 1/2 way through the year! February is a short month for us but we have a lot of exciting things going on. Don't forget to check out our Events tab! I am so proud of the class for being amazing leaders in the school and making me proud to call them my second family!
This month we are delving into our "One School, One Book" to read and enjoy as a community at large. Our kick-off assembly was on January 25th and the students are excited about this journey. Please take the time each night to read with your child as that encourages them to be life-long readers.
We will be focusing on KINDNESS this month!!!!
Happy New Year!!! I can hardly believe that we are already here at 2017!!! I hope that everyone had a restful and happy Christmas break. I can't wait to see you!! This is going to be a busy month getting back into the swing of things and taking on load of new knowledge. The grade 4's will be delving deeper into their understanding of global citizenship while the 5's become more familiar with Canada's history and regions. We begin the year with a visit from Scientists in the School to kick-start our Electicity and Magnetism unit for science! We continue to work with 2-3 digit multiplication until we are comfortable enough to delve into that deeper division!
Parents, thank you so much with your continued support with field trips, in-class help and supporting students outside of school. This partnership is key for student success.
Yippee! My favourite time of year has arrived. I am thrilled to have the classroom decorated for the holidays, including Chirstmas books wrapped under the tree, ready to be read each day of school for the month of December!
As some students/families remember, I dress up in wild holiday attire for the entire month of December! I encourage any students to join me in this super fun adventure. We have lots of fun events happening this month and a strong focus on kindness and giving! I am looking forward to such a wonderful time!
Thank you to everyone who came to student-led conferences. It was a huge success and I am incredibly proud of our students! I think I'm the luckiest teacher in the school but don't tell anyone else that!
Students are just about completed writing their letters of hope that will be read by people who will have to spend Christmas in the hospital this year. I am proud of our class for taking on such a meaningful project!
Well, we are already in the midst of fall and everyone in our class seems to be falling into place. I am extremely please to report that we have a very empathetic group of friends in our class. With the varying needs that is sure to come with any combined group of learners, it is inspiriting to see the internal support for one another. There is so much going on for October, be sure to check out the Events tab on the right drop down menu as well as daily checking of student agendas.
If you are interested in volunteering throughout the year, please let me know and I will hook you up with an event! We sure love sharing our experiences with others and we know these events couldn't happen without volunteer support.
Our Halloween class party will be held on Monday, October 31st in the afternoon. Student may dress up and bring snacks. I will be sending a form home about snacks later in October.
FreshGrade: FEEDBACK PLEASE!!! I am seeking feedback regarding FreshGrade. I love being able to share learning with you daily but I also want to ensure that parents are on board and finding it as helpful/inspiring!
Welcome to our class webpage. I am challenging our class to have an interactive webpage and that includes me being more accountable for current updates and blogging about what is going on in our classroom. I believe it is extremely important to build a partnership between home and school and I hope this webpage will be helpful in order for you and the students to feel more inclusive and connected.
